AC Milan contract talks could soon be on the agenda for Samuel Chukwueze after the Nigerian winger made a strong start to the 2026/27 Serie A season.
Chukwueze has started all three of Milan’s opening league matches and has already provided two assists, strengthening his position in the team’s starting lineup after returning to the club following a season away in England.
The 27-year-old Nigeria international still has a contract with Milan until June 2028, meaning the club is under no immediate pressure to secure his future. However, according to transfer journalist Nicolo Schira, Milan are preparing to open discussions over a new deal for the winger.
The reported interest comes after a significant change in Chukwueze’s circumstances. He spent the 2025/26 campaign on loan at Premier League side Fulham before returning to San Siro for the new season. His early involvement underlines the role he is now playing in Milan’s plans, with his two assists coming in the opening three Serie A fixtures.
Chukwueze joined Milan from Villarreal in the summer of 2023, arriving in Italy after establishing himself as an important attacking player in Spain. His time at Milan has since included periods of competition for a regular starting position, making his current run of starts particularly notable.
The decision to explore an extension would therefore represent an early indication that Milan see value in keeping Chukwueze beyond his existing agreement. For the player, a new contract would also come at a time when he is attempting to build sustained momentum after returning from his loan spell in England.
Much will depend on how the season develops, but Chukwueze has given Milan an encouraging reason to consider his longer-term future. With three consecutive starts and two assists already recorded, the Nigerian winger has quickly moved into a prominent position at the beginning of the new campaign.
