Jennifer Lopez, director Robert Zemeckis and Netflix have rejected reports of a disagreement over their upcoming thriller, The Last Mrs. Parrish, describing claims of tension between the actress and filmmaker as “categorically false”.
In a joint statement to TMZ, the three parties dismissed suggestions that Lopez and Zemeckis had different creative visions for the film or were struggling to work together during post-production. The statement also addressed an earlier report by Page Six, which alleged that the pair had clashed over the film’s editing and creative direction.
“As we have said to Page Six, this reporting is categorically false. Any suggestion that the filmmakers are not working in unison is without merit,” the statement read.
The denial followed a Page Six report claiming that Lopez wanted greater involvement in the editing process after allegedly disappointing test screenings. The publication cited unnamed sources who suggested that the actress had become concerned about audience reactions and was spending time in the editing room as discussions over the film’s direction continued.
The report also drew comparisons with the highly publicised dispute between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni surrounding their film It Ends With Us. However, the claims involving Lopez and Zemeckis have been firmly rejected by the parties involved.
Netflix also disputed the suggestion that the film had received a poor response during test screenings. In comments to TMZ, the streaming platform said the thriller had performed well with test audiences, particularly among fans.
Sources speaking to TMZ offered a different account of the working relationship, describing Lopez and Zemeckis as collaborators who were enjoying the post-production process. Their comments contradicted the earlier claims that creative differences had created difficulties between the two.
Lopez has a significant role in The Last Mrs. Parrish, serving as both a producer and one of the film’s lead actors. Her involvement behind the scenes gives her a creative stake in the project beyond her performance on screen.
The film’s development comes as Lopez continues her relationship with Netflix following the release of her 2026 romantic comedy, Office Romance, which reached the top of the streaming platform’s global charts after its debut.
