Simon Guobadia, the Nigerian businessman and former husband of reality television star Porsha Williams, has been indicted by federal prosecutors in Georgia over allegations that he helped prepare and file false federal tax returns involving millions of dollars in company revenue.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Guobadia was indicted on Tuesday, October 27, on two counts of allegedly assisting in the preparation and filing of false federal income tax returns. Prosecutors claim that he knowingly provided inaccurate financial information when reporting his income to the US government.

One of the allegations concerns a tax filing made in March 2021. Prosecutors claim Guobadia declared zero taxable income despite allegedly knowing that his actual earnings were higher. During the same period, his company, Simcol Petroleum Limited, reportedly generated more than $45 million in gross sales.
A second alleged offence relates to a tax filing made in July 2021. According to the indictment, Guobadia reported taxable income of $58,231, while Simcol Petroleum Limited recorded nearly $31 million in gross sales.
Federal prosecutors allege that the financial information submitted in both filings was knowingly inaccurate. The charges centre on claims that Guobadia assisted in preparing and filing tax returns containing false income declarations.
Court records also indicate that an arrest warrant has been issued for the businessman. However, it remains unclear whether he has been taken into custody in connection with the indictment.
The allegations add another development to the public attention surrounding Guobadia, whose personal life attracted widespread media coverage following his marriage and subsequent divorce from Williams, a cast member of The Real Housewives of Atlanta.
The couple married in November 2022, but their relationship ended after Williams filed for divorce in February 2024, approximately 15 months later. Their separation became a widely discussed subject, particularly as details of their financial arrangements and property dispute emerged.
Williams reportedly secured the couple’s multimillion-dollar Atlanta mansion as well as a seven-figure settlement earlier this year, following the breakdown of their marriage.
Guobadia also faced immigration difficulties after his divorce from Williams and was deported from the United States in 2025, according to reports.
The latest indictment concerns alleged financial misconduct during 2021 and is separate from the immigration issues that preceded his deportation. The charges remain allegations, and an indictment does not establish guilt. Guobadia’s legal position and the outcome of the case will depend on the proceedings before the court.
