An IndiGo flight from Delhi to Chennai was diverted to Hyderabad on 11 October after a passenger’s power bank reportedly caught fire mid-air, forcing the crew to respond to smoke and flames inside the aircraft.
Dramatic footage from the incident shows flames coming from an overhead compartment as cabin crew members attempt to extinguish the fire. Passengers can be heard screaming as the situation unfolds inside the cabin.
The aircraft, an Airbus A321 operating as flight 6E 6115, was diverted to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad as a precaution after smoke began coming from a passenger’s personal electronic device.
The aircraft landed safely, and no injuries or casualties were reported.
