Fireboy DML has released “ZUKO!”, his fifth studio album, adding a new chapter to the Nigerian singer’s evolving musical career. The 13-track project features Nigerian artists Lojay and Judah Earl, Jamaican dancehall star Masicka, and South African acts JAZZWRLD and Thukuthela.
Released through YBNL Nation and EMPIRE, “ZUKO!” arrives two years after the singer’s fourth studio album, “Adedamola”, which came out in 2024. The new project brings together artists from different musical backgrounds, expanding the range of collaborations across Fireboy DML’s catalogue.
The album opens with “Dear Father”, featuring Judah Earl, before moving into “By Fire!” and “CLAAT!”, which features Masicka. Other collaborations include “GODDESS” with Lojay and “IMALI” with JAZZWRLD and Thukuthela.
The remaining tracks are “C’EST LA VIE“, “ONE MAN REGIMENT”, “KILOWI”, “ONAZO!”, “S.L.U.T (SEX LOVE UNDERSTANDING TRUST)”, “LIGHT OF DAWN”, “MIMI NAWE” and “FIGHTING”, completing the 13-song tracklist.
Ahead of the release, Fireboy DML shared “THE RED COUCH SESSION: ZUKO!” on YouTube. The session offered fans an opportunity to learn more about the album’s rollout, its central theme and the meaning behind its title.
Since his 2019 debut album, “Laughter, Tears and Goosebumps”, Fireboy DML has continued to develop his sound and artistic identity. The project gained attention for its lack of guest features, setting it apart from many contemporary Afrobeats releases. He followed it with “APOLLO” in 2020, “Playboy” in 2022 and “Adedamola” in 2024.
“ZUKO!” continues that progression, bringing together a new set of collaborators while adding another full-length project to his discography. Its combination of Nigerian, Jamaican and South African artists also gives the album a cross-border collaborative dimension.
