Chris Brown has launched a broadside at the music industry and fellow celebrities, saying he has no interest in seeking approval or accepting what he described as “fake love” from people around him.
The singer made the comments on Instagram on Tuesday, September 22, in a series of posts that appeared to reflect growing frustration with the entertainment business and the public expectations surrounding his career.
Brown said he was tired of what he called the “circus” surrounding the music industry and suggested that he no longer wanted to conform to expectations about how he should present himself. His comments also moved beyond the business itself, as he criticised people he accused of pushing particular “agendas” and “narratives.”
“F*** being humble,” Brown wrote in one of the posts. He followed it with further dismissive comments about other people’s opinions and feelings, including the declaration: “I don’t like none of you celebrities.”
The singer then positioned himself above his peers, describing himself as “the king” and claiming that other artists could not compete with him even when he was performing at his worst. He also indicated that he was no longer concerned about maintaining a carefully controlled public image, saying he was prepared to accept being seen as a “villain.”
Brown did not name any specific celebrities in the posts, nor did he explain what had triggered the outburst. That left the immediate target of his anger unclear, although his comments were directed broadly at the entertainment industry and people within it.
The posts came only days after Brown became involved in another public dispute surrounding recognition he and Usher received during a concert in Texas.
Texas State Representative Venton Jones had participated in the presentation of congressional recognitions to the two singers before later apologising for his involvement. Brown subsequently criticised Jones over the apology, adding another layer to an already public disagreement.
It remains unclear whether Brown’s latest comments were related to that episode or were prompted by a separate incident. He has not publicly connected the two controversies.
For now, the posts stand as another unusually direct expression of Brown’s frustration with the celebrity culture surrounding him. Rather than identifying individual rivals or explaining a specific grievance, the singer appeared to direct his anger at the wider industry and the expectations that come with being one of its most recognisable performers.
