Anna Camp Opens Up About Being Bisexual and Finding Herself in Her Forties

Anna Camp bisexual revelation marks a deeply personal turning point for the American actress, who says embracing her identity in her forties has been both challenging and empowering.

 Anna Camp sexuality

The 43 year old actress spoke candidly about her sexuality during a preview of Tuesday’s episode of the podcast “I’ve Never Said This Before with Tommy DiDario“. In the conversation, Camp reflected on the personal journey that led her to publicly identify as bisexual and the courage it took to do so while living in the public eye.

Camp said she now feels proud of acknowledging who she is, especially at a stage in life when many people assume identity and direction are already settled.

“As a 43 year old woman, I am very proud of myself for owning my sexuality at this age,” she said during the podcast preview.

The actress acknowledged that speaking openly about sexuality while working in the entertainment industry can invite scrutiny and judgment. Even so, she described the decision as an important act of personal honesty.

Camp explained that accepting her identity required strength, particularly because public figures often face intense commentary when discussing private aspects of their lives.

“I am a very strong person for doing it in somewhat of a spotlight with people criticizing and judging and making assumptions,” she said. “I’m really proud to be bisexual.”

The actress said her realization came after what she described as a major personal shift that unfolded during her forties. Rather than seeing identity as something fixed, she now views life as an ongoing process of discovery.

According to Camp, embracing that evolution helped her overcome the fear that often accompanies public self disclosure. She acknowledged that opening up about her sexuality in a public forum felt risky at times, but she ultimately chose authenticity over hesitation.

“There are times I feel like I am taking a risk, and this is scary,” she said. “But I only get one life, and I want to be happy. That is what life is all about.”

Camp also spoke about how people often develop firm expectations about who they are and how their lives will unfold. Her own experiences, she said, have repeatedly challenged that assumption.

“You think you have this idea of who you are and how your life will go,” she explained. “That has happened to me several times where I thought I knew what was happening.”

Rather than settling into a version of herself that felt incomplete, Camp said she chose to continue growing and learning.

“I could have settled,” she said. “I could have said I was done evolving. But I want to keep evolving and learning.”

Camp’s personal journey became more visible in May 2025 when she publicly confirmed her relationship with writer Jade Whipkey, who is 24. The relationship drew widespread attention online and across entertainment media.

In July 2025, Camp spoke to Cosmopolitan about the unexpected level of public interest surrounding their relationship. She said both she and Whipkey were surprised by how quickly the news spread, though the response from fans was largely supportive.

“We’ve been a bit surprised by all of the hubbub,” Camp said at the time. “But there has been a lot of support, and we are very grateful and thankful for everybody who is supportive of us. It is lovely.”

Before speaking publicly about her sexuality, Camp was already well known in Hollywood for her work in film and television. She gained widespread recognition after appearing in the 2012 musical comedy “Pitch Perfect”, where she starred alongside Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Brittany Snow, and Adam DeVine.

The film became a major commercial success and helped establish Camp as a recognizable figure in mainstream entertainment.

Her personal life has also been visible over the years. Camp was previously married to actor Michael Mosley from 2010 to 2013. She later married her “Pitch Perfect” co star Skylar Astin in 2016. The couple separated in April 2019 and finalized their divorce later that same year.

Today, Camp appears focused on both personal growth and professional work. Her recent comments suggest she sees identity not as something fixed but as something that can evolve throughout life.

For many public figures, discussing sexuality can become a defining moment in their relationship with audiences. Camp’s decision to speak openly reflects a broader cultural shift in which more people feel encouraged to explore identity beyond traditional expectations.

Her message, however, remained personal rather than political. Throughout the interview, she emphasized the importance of self acceptance and the freedom to grow.

The actress framed her decision not as a dramatic transformation but as part of an ongoing journey. By acknowledging that change can happen at any stage of life, Camp offered a reminder that identity is rarely as fixed as people assume.

In her own words, the goal is simple. Continue learning, continue evolving, and choose happiness where possible.
