Magical Kenya Travel Expo 2026 Opens in Nairobi With More Than 350 Exhibitors
Magical Kenya Travel Expo 2026 has opened in Nairobi, bringing more than 350 exhibitors together with international travel buyers, tourism businesses and destination representatives for one of Africa’s major tourism trade events.

The three-day expo runs from October 6 to 8 in the Kenyan capital and is expected to bring around 5,000 tourism professionals together for meetings, networking and business opportunities. The event gives Kenyan tourism companies a direct platform to connect with international buyers while presenting a broader picture of what the country offers beyond its best-known safari destinations.

Hotels, tour operators, safari companies, airlines and other tourism businesses are among the participants using the expo to build relationships with overseas markets. For Kenya, the event is also an opportunity to position different parts of its tourism industry in front of buyers who can influence future holiday and business travel demand.

The annual trade show has increasingly become a business-focused meeting point rather than simply a promotional exhibition. Last year’s edition generated more than 10,000 business-to-business meetings, highlighting the role of the event in creating commercial links between Kenyan tourism suppliers and international travel companies.

Kenya is also using the expo to broaden the way it presents its tourism offering. Safari and beach holidays remain central to the country’s international appeal, but tourism authorities and businesses are placing greater attention on other areas, including culture, food, adventure, meetings and events, and sports tourism.

That wider approach is particularly relevant as Kenya looks to distribute tourism activity across more destinations and encourage visitors to explore regions outside the traditional circuits.

Sports tourism has become one of the areas receiving greater attention. Kenya’s international reputation in long-distance running has created an existing connection between sport and tourism, particularly around Eldoret and the wider North Rift region, where high-altitude training has attracted elite athletes from Kenya and abroad.

The development of sports-related tourism gives Kenya another way to turn an internationally recognised strength into a travel experience. It also creates opportunities for destinations outside the country’s established safari and coastal markets to attract visitors, events and related spending.

For the tourism industry, that diversification matters because it can create new reasons for international travellers to visit different parts of the country and potentially return for experiences beyond a first safari or beach holiday.

The Magical Kenya Travel Expo is therefore serving two purposes at the same time. It remains an important international sales platform for Kenyan tourism businesses, while also providing a stage for the country to present a more diverse tourism offering to global markets.

With hundreds of exhibitors and thousands of industry professionals expected in Nairobi, the 2026 edition reflects Kenya’s continued effort to strengthen international tourism partnerships and expand the range of experiences it places in front of travellers and travel buyers.
