Chris Eubank Jr has offered to step into the heavyweight division as a replacement if the proposed Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua fight fails to take place, adding an unexpected name to the list of potential alternatives surrounding the much-discussed matchup.
Eubank made the offer after posting a video of himself stepping onto the scales at 206 pounds. The British fighter, who has spent his professional career competing at middleweight and super-middleweight, used the post to address the possibility of the Fury-Joshua bout falling apart.
“If Fury vs AJ falls through… I’ll stop dieting, put the extra lbs back on & step up to the plate. Let me know boys,” Eubank wrote.
The 206-pound figure would put Eubank significantly above the 168-pound limit of the super-middleweight division, but still leaves him well below the weight typically associated with the heavyweight division. A fight against either Fury or Joshua would therefore represent a major change in size and weight for the 36-year-old.
Eubank has never competed professionally at heavyweight. His career has been built largely around the middleweight and super-middleweight divisions, making the proposed move a striking one even by the standards of boxing, where fighters occasionally move through multiple weight classes during their careers.
The offer comes as attention continues to surround the negotiations for a potential Fury-Joshua fight. Both former heavyweight champions have long been linked with a meeting, but contractual and promotional issues have been cited as possible obstacles to the contest taking place.

If the fight were to collapse, the search for a replacement opponent would become an immediate question. Established heavyweights and fighters from the cruiserweight division have already been mentioned as possible alternatives, but Eubank’s public offer introduces a very different possibility.
For Eubank, moving to heavyweight would mean entering a division where the physical advantages of much larger opponents can be significant. Fury and Joshua are both established heavyweight fighters, while Eubank’s professional experience has been gained at substantially lower weights.
At this stage, however, Eubank’s comments amount to an offer rather than a confirmed change of opponent or division. The proposed Fury-Joshua fight would still have to fall through before such a scenario became relevant.
His intervention nevertheless adds another layer to the speculation around one of boxing’s most anticipated potential heavyweight contests. Whether Eubank could actually make the jump remains hypothetical, but his willingness to publicly put himself forward ensures that his name is now part of the conversation should the planned fight fail to materialize.
