Ana Montana arrested in North Carolina and faces felony drug charges related to allegations involving prescriptions for alprazolam, the generic form of Xanax.
Montana, whose legal name is Analicia Chaves, was arrested on September 28 in Mecklenburg County, according to booking records. She faces two felony counts of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud or forgery, along with two misdemeanor counts of simple possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance.
She was being held on a $20,000 bond in connection with the felony charges.
According to an arrest warrant, authorities allege that Montana obtained alprazolam from a Walgreens pharmacy using prescriptions that were written with a doctor’s allegedly stolen Drug Enforcement Administration registration and medical provider identification information.
The allegations relate to an incident said to have occurred on February 21. The warrant was issued on September 22, six days before Montana’s arrest.
Montana’s attorney has sought to clarify the circumstances surrounding the charges, arguing that the allegations do not claim that she personally created or falsified the prescriptions. According to her lawyer, the prescriptions were allegedly issued by a doctor who used fraudulent DEA registration and National Provider Identifier credentials.
The attorney said Montana obtained the alprazolam from a pharmacy using the prescription that had been issued by the doctor. The lawyer also said the possession charges appear to stem from Montana having the medication after collecting it from the pharmacy.
The distinction could become important as the case moves forward because the allegations described in the warrant concern the circumstances surrounding the prescription and the acquisition of the medication, while Montana’s lawyer maintains that the prescriptions were written by a doctor using allegedly fraudulent credentials.
Montana is known publicly in part through her relationship with NBA player LaMelo Ball. The couple share a son, LaOne, who was born in January 2026. They publicly announced his birth on Mother’s Day in May.
Ball, who spent the early part of his NBA career with the Charlotte Hornets, was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves in June. The NBA regular season is scheduled to begin in the coming weeks.
For now, the allegations against Montana remain unresolved. An arrest and criminal charges do not establish guilt, and Montana has not been convicted of the offences.
