FITUR 2027 will take place from 20 to 24 January at IFEMA MADRID, with Puerto Rico as the event’s Partner Country as the International Tourism Trade Fair expands to 11 halls and prepares for another major gathering of the global tourism industry.

The 47th edition of FITUR is being positioned as a meeting point for tourism businesses, destinations and professionals from across the world, with the organisers adding two halls compared with the previous edition. The expansion comes as international tourism continues to grow and destinations compete for travellers, investment and business opportunities.
The event will open to tourism professionals from Wednesday 20 to Friday 22 January, when industry representatives, destination organisations and other specialists will meet for business discussions, knowledge-sharing and commercial agreements. On Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 January, the fair will open its doors to the general public, turning the professional trade event into a wider tourism showcase for travellers.
FITUR 2026 Closes with a Strong Boost to Global Tourism and Confirms Its International Leadership
The organisers are also bringing back the Knowledge Hub for a second edition. The initiative is intended to create a space where tourism experts can discuss the industry’s current challenges, examine future trends, share practical experience and introduce technological tools that can help tourism businesses adapt to a changing market. The programme will also provide opportunities for companies and professionals to establish commercial relationships.
FITUR 2027 is expected to reflect the increasingly specialised nature of the tourism industry. The fair will be organised around geographical areas covering Europe, the Americas, Africa, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and Spain. There will also be a dedicated area for tourism companies from around the world, alongside Travel Technology, a specialist space that grew by 50 percent at the 2026 edition.
The specialised sections will cover a wide range of issues shaping tourism. FITUR 4ALL will focus on accessible tourism, while FITUR Cruises will examine the development of blue tourism and the cruise sector. FITUR Experience will continue its focus on experiential tourism, while FITUR LGTB+ will address diversity within the industry.
Other sections will look at specific areas of tourism and its wider economic and cultural links. FITUR Lingua will explore language tourism, FITUR Know-How & Export will highlight the international potential of Spanish tourism businesses, and FITUR Screen will examine the relationship between audiovisual production and destinations.
FITUR Sports will bring tourism and sport together, while FITUR Talent will focus on the industry’s workforce and talent challenges. FITUR TechY will examine technology and its role in tourism, and FITUR Woman will highlight women’s participation and leadership in the sector. These specialist areas will be complemented by the FITURNEXT Sustainability Observatory, which focuses on sustainability within tourism.

The scale of the event reflects the position FITUR has built in the international tourism calendar. At its January 2026 edition, the fair recorded 255,000 visitors and brought together more than 10,000 companies from 161 countries. A total of 111 countries were officially represented. The 2026 event also generated an estimated economic impact of 505 million euros for Madrid.
The organisers say the expansion of FITUR 2027 is linked to the continued growth of international tourism. UN Tourism has forecast international tourism growth of between 3 and 4 percent compared with 2025. International arrivals surpassed 1.5 billion worldwide in 2025, providing a broader backdrop for destinations and tourism businesses preparing for the next phase of the market.
For Puerto Rico, its role as Partner Country will place the Caribbean destination at the centre of one of the industry’s largest annual meetings in Madrid. The partnership will provide a platform for Puerto Rico to present its tourism offering to international professionals and travellers during the five-day event.
For the wider tourism industry, FITUR 2027 will combine the traditional functions of a trade fair with conferences, specialist programmes, technology discussions and public-facing tourism promotion. The 2027 edition will run from 20 to 24 January at IFEMA MADRID, with the first three days dedicated primarily to professionals before the event opens fully to travellers over the weekend.
