London, Paris and Marseille lead the most searched cities for group holidays in 2026

Group holidays in 2026 are drawing travellers towards some of Europe’s best-known cities, with London, Paris and Marseille among the most searched destinations for groups of five or more, according to Kayak.

The figures are based on hotel and holiday rental searches made between March and September for stays taking place between July and December 2026. Europe dominates both rankings, although Marrakech and New York also feature among the destinations attracting the most interest.

London, Paris and Marseille lead the most searched cities for group holidays in 2026

London ranked first for hotel searches by larger groups, with an average nightly hotel price of EUR 181. That was 6 per cent lower than the average recorded a year earlier. Paris followed in second place at EUR 144 per night, down 3 per cent from the previous year.

Barcelona was third at EUR 176 per night, followed by Madrid at EUR 124 and Rome at EUR 143. Amsterdam ranked sixth at EUR 165, while Marseille was seventh with an average hotel price of EUR 100 per night.

Marrakech took eighth place at EUR 188 per night, while New York ranked ninth at EUR 307, making it the most expensive destination in the hotel ranking. Berlin completed the top 10 at EUR 115 per night.

Holiday rentals produced a slightly different ranking. Paris came first, with an average nightly rental rate of EUR 151. Marseille was second at EUR 89, while London ranked third at EUR 166.

Marrakech took fourth place at EUR 101 per night, followed by Madrid at EUR 119. Gdansk in Poland was sixth at EUR 110, while Barcelona ranked seventh at EUR 149.

Nice was eighth at EUR 141, Rome was ninth at EUR 107 and Krakow completed the top 10 at EUR 76, the lowest average holiday rental rate in the ranking.

The complete holiday rental ranking for groups of five or more was:
  1. Paris, France: Average holiday rental rate per night, EUR 151

The two rankings show that several cities are attracting group travellers regardless of the type of accommodation they are considering. Paris and London appear near the top of both lists, while Marseille also performs strongly across hotels and holiday rentals.

The figures also point to one of the practical advantages of travelling with a larger group. Accommodation costs can be divided between several people, while expenses such as rental cars, fuel and, in some cases, food can also be shared. Kayak said that larger villas and other group-friendly properties can become more affordable when their nightly cost is divided among five or more travellers.

Marseille’s position in both rankings is particularly notable. The French port city has more than 26 centuries of history and is home to Le Panier, its oldest neighbourhood, which dates back to around 600 BC.

Le Panier is known for its narrow streets, murals, street art, artisan businesses and designers. The neighbourhood offers a different setting from the major landmarks associated with Paris, while Marseille’s location on the Mediterranean gives it a strong appeal for travellers looking for a city break with a coastal setting.

Paris, meanwhile, remains the most searched destination for group holiday rentals and second for hotel searches. London leads the hotel ranking and is also third among holiday rental searches.

Beyond the two major capitals, the rankings include a mixture of established European city-break destinations and less prominent choices. Gdansk and Krakow bring Poland into the holiday rental list, while Marrakech provides the main North African presence. New York is the only destination outside Europe and North Africa to appear in either top 10.

Kayak’s figures reflect searches rather than confirmed bookings, so they should be read as an indication of where larger groups were looking for accommodation rather than a measure of completed trips. The research covers searches for parties of five or more made between March and September 2026 for stays from July through December.

For groups planning a trip during the second half of the year, the data offers a snapshot of the destinations attracting the most search interest and the average accommodation prices recorded during the period studied.
