TikTok couple Dakota Harper and Felicity Eatmon have been arrested and charged with arson after investigators alleged they set fire to an abandoned house in Charleston, West Virginia.
Harper and Eatmon, who run a popular TikTok account together, were arrested Tuesday and each faces charges of first-degree arson and conspiracy to commit arson. The charges follow a fire that broke out Sunday night at an abandoned property in Charleston.
Investigators say surveillance footage obtained during the investigation allegedly captured the couple at the property before the fire. According to authorities, the footage shows Eatmon handing Harper a piece of paper that was already lit. Harper then allegedly placed the burning paper inside the house.
Authorities also allege that the surveillance video shows Harper and Eatmon entering the abandoned property before leaving the area.
The fire did not simply disappear after the initial blaze. Smoke was reportedly still rising from the property days later as the remains continued to smolder, according to the information surrounding the investigation.
The incident also affected a nearby church, which reportedly suffered about $10,000 in damage.
Harper and Eatmon were being held on $10,000 bond each, according to jail records.
The case remains at the allegation stage. The surveillance footage and other evidence cited by investigators will form part of the case against the couple, but the charges have not been proven in court. Harper and Eatmon are presumed innocent unless and until they are found guilty.
