Keffe D faced a series of disciplinary incidents while being held at the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas before his trial over the 1996 killing of rapper Tupac Shakur.
Records obtained by TMZ show that Duane “Keffe D” Davis was accused of several rule violations between his arrest on September 29, 2023, and the start of his murder trial. The incidents included fights, threats, verbal abuse and refusing to follow orders from corrections officers.
One of the more serious incidents happened in December 2025, when Davis was involved in a fight with another inmate while being escorted back to his cell after a visit. According to the records, the two men fought in a dayroom, grappling and throwing punches. A corrections officer used pepper spray to break up the fight, while other officers later separated the men.
In March 2024, Davis was also accused of arguing with a corrections officer about when he could leave his cell for recreational time. The records say Davis became angry during the exchange and told the officer, “Who do you think you are talking to? I have been doing this s—t since before you were born.”
The officer told Davis that he had lost his recreation time for the day and ordered him to return to his cell. According to the records, Davis then allegedly threatened to fight the officer and punch him in the face.
Davis was later placed in disciplinary housing over several alleged violations, including refusing a direct order and threatening another person with physical harm.
Another incident was reported in August 2024. Davis allegedly became angry after being given limited time outside his cell and because he had been unable to make a phone call to someone he believed could help with his bail.
The records say Davis repeatedly insulted two corrections officers, calling them a “piece of s***” before asking them to “have a heart.” He eventually returned to his cell but continued complaining and allegedly kicked the cell door. Officers then placed him on lockdown for 24 hours because of the alleged verbal abuse.
Later that month, officers went to Davis’ cell to remove a second mattress because records showed he was not authorised to have it. Davis allegedly became angry and shouted, “This is some bulls***!”
The situation reportedly became physical when Davis struggled with the officers. He was eventually handcuffed, and one officer suffered a scratch on a knuckle during the confrontation.
The records also list less serious allegations against Davis, including passing a commissary note to another inmate.
The jail incidents came while Davis was awaiting trial in the case involving Shakur’s death. A Las Vegas jury convicted Davis last month of murder in connection with the rapper’s fatal 1996 drive-by shooting.
Prosecutors argued that Davis gave the murder weapon to another person in the vehicle and that the gunman then shot Shakur after the rapper had assaulted Davis’ nephew.
Davis is scheduled to be sentenced on October 13.
