Victor Osimhen may start wearing protective arm gear when he returns to action for Galatasaray after undergoing surgery to fix a fractured hand. The Super Eagles striker, 27, sustained the injury during a UEFA Champions League Round of 16 clash with Liverpool, following a collision with Ibrahima Konaté.

The striker had surgery earlier this week, and medical teams estimate a recovery period of around six weeks. If all goes according to plan, Osimhen could be back on the pitch near the end of the season. Turkish journalist Arda Özkurt told Winner Galatasaray that Osimhen might wear a specially designed protective splint while playing, depending on his recovery.
This is not the first time Osimhen has used protective gear. He has worn a facial mask since 2021 after cheekbone surgery. Turkish reports now suggest he could be available for the Istanbul derby against Fenerbahçe on April 26, though this depends entirely on the pace of his rehabilitation.
Osimhen has been a central figure for Galatasaray this season. Across all competitions, he has scored 19 goals and provided seven assists in 29 appearances, contributing significantly to the club’s four-point lead in the league. In the UEFA Champions League, he recorded seven goals and three assists in 10 matches before Galatasaray’s exit from the tournament.
The use of protective arm gear could allow Osimhen to return without risking further injury, maintaining his crucial role in both domestic and European competitions. His presence on the field remains a major boost for Galatasaray as they approach key matches in the final weeks of the season.
