Super Eagles Striker Victor Osimhen Rewards NPFL Champions Remo Stars with N10m.
Victor Osimhen has sent a strong message of support to Nigeria’s football scene with a generous cash gift of N10 million to Remo Stars, the new champions of the Nigeria Premier Football League.
The Super Eagles striker, who is currently playing on loan for Galatasaray, reached out to the team through a personal video call. After the call, he surprised both the players and the technical crew with N5 million each, making it a total of N10 million. This was confirmed by head coach Daniel Ogunmodede during a chat with Punch Sports Extra.
Remo Stars made history by winning their first ever NPFL title. They defeated Niger Tornadoes 1-0 in a tough match on Sunday, with Olamilekan Adedayo scoring the only goal in the 84th minute at their home ground in Ikenne. That goal sealed their position as champions, three games before the end of the season.
With 68 points on the table, Remo Stars are out of reach for any other team. They now sit 10 points ahead of Rivers United, who are in second place. This title means more than just a trophy. It marks a turning point. Remo Stars are now the first privately-owned club to win the NPFL since Julius Berger in 2000. They also become the first team from Southwest Nigeria to lift the title in the last 25 years.
Osimhen’s gesture is more than just a donation. It is a statement. It shows the kind of unity and encouragement that drives Nigerian football forward.
