Medvedev Calls Zelensky an ‘Arrogant Pig,’ While Russia Applauds Trump’s Restraint.
Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for Russia’s foreign ministry, spoke out on Friday, commenting on a tense moment between former U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Zakharova argued that Trump demonstrated remarkable restraint during their heated exchange in the White House, particularly when Zelensky made a bold claim.
On Telegram, Zakharova stated, “Zelensky’s biggest lie is his claim that the Kyiv regime stood alone in 2022, without any support. I honestly don’t know how Trump and Vance managed to hold back from physically confronting that guy. It’s almost a miracle of self-control,” she wrote.
Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, who now serves as deputy head of Russia’s Security Council, went even further, calling Zelensky an “arrogant pig” who received what he described as a “well-deserved slap down” during the exchange in the Oval Office.
Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, weighed in as well, labeling the confrontation between Trump and Zelensky as “historic.” Dmitriev had been one of Russia’s negotiators in the high-stakes talks between Russia and the U.S. that took place on February 18 in Saudi Arabia—the first since Russia began its military actions in Ukraine back in 2022.
