Rihanna has hinted that she may be stepping away from music for good, choosing instead to focus on her growing list of entrepreneurial ventures. The pop icon, who has built a beauty and fashion empire with Fenty Beauty and Savage X Fenty, made this surprising revelation during the launch of Fenty Beauty in her homeland, Barbados.
In her remarks, Rihanna reflected on her journey, saying, “Music was what first put me on the map. But as time went on, it was clear that life had bigger plans for me, letting me express myself in ways that felt truly genuine and aligned with the things I’m passionate about.”
Rihanna’s heartfelt message resonated as she continued, “It doesn’t even feel like work. But being here, back home, celebrating this day with all of you means everything. It’s a moment I want to share with the community that has been my foundation, that has lifted me and inspired me over the years.”

“Music was the thing that got the attention, but God had other plans for me. I cannot express what this day means to me, to be able to celebrate with people that deserve it the most. Thank you to my country.” pic.twitter.com/AS3Cr2ado1

For fans, the idea of Rihanna stepping away from music isn’t entirely unexpected. Her last album, Anti, was released in 2016, and since then, her musical contributions have been rare, limited mostly to special projects like her song on Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in 2022. During this hiatus, Rihanna has also been fully engaged in building a family with partner A$AP Rocky. The couple share two young children—RZA, who is now two years old, and baby Riot Rose, who’s nine months old. Rihanna has expressed her hopes for expanding their family further.
When asked about motherhood by Entertainment Tonight, she beamed, “It’s the best thing ever. I live for it. Every day is full of energy; they keep me on my toes! Whether it’s them climbing up on things or challenging me in ways I never expected, it’s this incredible mix of fun and exercise. And it’s such a joy for all of us.” She laughed, adding, “One day, I’d love to have a girl. I have two boys now, and a little girl would be a whole new experience.”
Recently, Rihanna even merged family life with her work, featuring her two sons in the latest Savage X Fenty holiday campaign—a perfect blend of her personal and professional worlds.
