Pusha T just proved he is not out of the race. The new Clipse album Let God Sort Em Out debuted at number four on the Billboard 200 but sold 118,000 equivalent units in its first week. That number alone is enough to spark serious conversations in hip hop circles.
It beat Lil Wayne’s latest release, Tha Carter VI, which despite debuting at number two, moved only 108,000 units. That’s almost 20 percent less than what Tha Carter V managed back in 2018. For fans who remember Tha Carter III hitting over a million in its first week in 2008, the new figures hit different.
But Pusha didn’t just outperform Wayne. He still trails Travis Scott, who topped the charts with his Jackboys 2 compilation. That project sold a massive 232,000 units in less than a week, even with fewer sale days than the rest.
Scott’s win didn’t stop Pusha from throwing jabs. Their tension reached a boiling point recently, and Pusha didn’t hold back. On the Clipse track “So Be It”, he aimed directly at Scott with raw lines like:
“You cried in front of me, you died in front of me
Calabasas took your bitch and your pride in front of me
Her utopia had moved right up the street
And her lip gloss was poppin’, she ain’t need you to eat.”
It’s not just about lyrics either. In an interview with GQ, Pusha explained why he had to say something. According to him, Travis disrespected Pharrell Williams on the track “Meltdown” with Drake. What upset Pusha most was that Scott came to Pharrell’s studio in Paris and pretended everything was good.
“We were literally working,” he told GQ. “He comes in, sees me and Malice, and he’s laughing, smiling, dancing like nothing’s wrong. Then a week later, Meltdown drops, and we hear Drake’s verse. He played the song for us but not that part. That’s sneaky.”
The back-and-forth between these artists isn’t just about music anymore. It’s about loyalty, respect, and who still matters in the game. While Travis Scott may hold the top spot for now, Pusha T’s comeback is gaining momentum. And outselling Lil Wayne in 2025? That’s not something anyone saw coming.
