Paradise Resort Evia Opens as Radisson’s First Resort in Greece

Paradise Resort Evia is now officially open as the first resort in Greece under the Radisson Hotel Group brand portfolio, marking a major step in the company’s expansion across Mediterranean leisure destinations.

Located in the coastal town of Eretria on the Greek island of Evia, the new beachfront resort brings large-scale resort hospitality to one of Greece’s fastest-growing travel destinations. The property features 322 rooms and bungalows, direct access to the Aegean Sea, multiple restaurants and bars, wellness facilities, sports amenities, and flexible event spaces designed for both leisure and business travelers.

The opening reflects a wider shift in travel trends across Greece. More international visitors are now looking beyond heavily visited islands such as Santorini and Mykonos in search of quieter destinations with easier access, stronger local identity, and a more relaxed atmosphere. Evia has increasingly become part of that conversation.

Why Evia Is Gaining Attention

For years, Evia remained relatively overlooked compared to Greece’s better-known island destinations. That is beginning to change.

The island offers a mix of beaches, mountain villages, thermal springs, archaeological sites, and local fishing towns, all within practical reach of Athens. Unlike many Greek islands that require long ferry journeys or domestic flights, Evia can largely be reached by road and short ferry connections from the mainland.

Paradise Resort Evia sits along the Eretria-Aliveri coastal road on the island’s western side. The location places guests close to several notable attractions, including the Archaeological Museum of Eretria and the city of Chalkida, known for the unusual tidal movement at the Euripus Bridge.

Travelers can also explore the thermal springs of Edipsos or visit the mountain village of Steni Dirfyos, both of which highlight the island’s mix of nature and traditional culture.

The resort is located roughly one hour and forty-five minutes from Athens International Airport by road and ferry, making it one of the more accessible beach resorts in the country.

A Resort Designed Around Scale and Accessibility

The resort has been designed with a low-rise Mediterranean layout that connects rooms and shared spaces to the surrounding coastline and gardens rather than concentrating guests in a single high-rise structure.

Accommodation includes standard rooms, private garden bungalows, and larger family suites. The property is aimed at a wide mix of travelers, including couples, families, groups, and longer-stay visitors.

This matters because many travelers are increasingly prioritizing space, slower travel experiences, and destinations that feel less crowded. Resorts that can offer both scale and a more relaxed atmosphere are becoming more competitive, particularly in Southern Europe.

According to Joep Peeters, the company sees Evia as a destination with strong long-term potential because of its authenticity, accessibility, and natural setting.

Food, Social Spaces, and Greek Hospitality

The resort includes five separate dining and bar venues built around Mediterranean and Greek dining culture.

Its main restaurant serves Mediterranean and international dishes throughout the day, while the El Greco Restaurant focuses on a more intimate a la carte experience.

One of the more culturally grounded concepts inside the resort is the Ouzeri Bar, inspired by the traditional Greek ouzerie. These social spaces are common across Greece and are known for serving local spirits, small shared dishes known as mezedes, and long informal gatherings that often stretch late into the evening.

Additional spaces include a pool bar and lobby bar, giving the resort a stronger social focus beyond traditional hotel dining.

Wellness and Sports Facilities Play a Bigger Role

One area where Paradise Resort Evia appears to be positioning itself aggressively is recreational infrastructure.

The property includes a full-service spa with wellness treatments, sauna facilities, relaxation areas, and an indoor pool. Guests also have access to three outdoor pools, including a dedicated children’s pool.

Sports and activity facilities are unusually extensive for the region. The resort offers tennis, paddle courts, basketball, beach volleyball, five-a-side football, petanque, watersports, and organized beachfront access.

This reflects a broader change happening across Mediterranean tourism. Hotels are no longer competing only on location or sea views. Increasingly, they are competing on how much guests can do without leaving the property.

Events and Business Tourism Remain Important

Beyond holiday tourism, Paradise Resort Evia is also targeting meetings, corporate retreats, weddings, and conferences.

The resort includes indoor and outdoor event spaces capable of hosting up to 240 attendees depending on configuration. Its proximity to Athens gives it an advantage over more remote Greek islands that are harder to access for corporate groups or large events.

This is part of a larger trend within the Greek hospitality sector. Many resorts are trying to extend tourism beyond the peak summer season by attracting conferences, retreats, and business gatherings during quieter months.

Radisson’s Expansion Across Mediterranean Destinations

The opening also highlights Radisson Hotels continued expansion in Mediterranean resort markets.

Rather than focusing only on established luxury destinations, hotel groups are increasingly investing in places that still feel less saturated but show growing international demand. Evia fits that strategy closely.

For travelers, the appeal is straightforward. The island offers a coastal Greek experience with easier access, lower density tourism, and a stronger sense of local everyday life than many of the country’s heavily commercialized islands.

Paradise Resort Evia enters the market at a moment when those qualities are becoming more valuable to international visitors.
