Fans were quick to condemn the reference to George Floyd, and NBA legend Stephen Jackson, who grew up with Floyd in Houston, publicly criticized Yachty.

In a viral social media video, Jackson addressed Yachty directly: “Lil Yachty, bro. You been wack, my n-gga. But you think saying George Floyd’s name in a bar is gonna make people like your wack-ass music? That shit weak. Y’all the only era that feels like demeaning the dead is cool, my n-gga. It ain’t.”

Jackson continued, urging respect for Floyd’s memory: “Don’t ever say his name, bro. None of ya’ll knew G, nothing about him. But y’all wanna use his name for clout. That’s weak-ass shit. Let somebody die in your family, we gonna do a whole skit about it. See how funny it is, bro. Cut that shit out.”

Lil Yachty has not responded publicly to the backlash.

The controversy surrounding Lil Yachty does not end with the George Floyd lyric. His former friend and collaborator Karrahbooo also spoke out over his treatment of women and business practices.

Karrahbooo, who left the Concrete Boys last year, renewed criticism of Yachty on social media. She accused him of keeping her bound to a record deal unfairly.

She wrote: “U have a daughter and u treating women like this is mindblowing like I know u never see her but still that doesn’t make sense how evil this man is to women not just me.”

Karrahbooo also called out fans who defend Yachty: “I’m tired of y’all tryna bully me and I’m tired of y’all dickeating this man because he is a big artist with a lot of money. Y’all believing everything he says. He said he dropped me I’m still signed. He said he would show y’all receipts of me owing 900k LMAO where they at. We still waiting. I told him to put it on his kid that he wrote all my songs he ain’t respond. I’m a mean person is crazy as well as everyone I meet has nothing but nice things to say about me. This shit annoying asf and it’s taken up a year of my life evil asf.”

Lil Yachty controversy continues to grow, with fans and fellow artists waiting for his response on both the George Floyd lyric and the allegations made by Karrahbooo. The situation highlights ongoing debates about accountability in the music industry, respect for public figures, and how artists address sensitive topics in their work.
