Court documents show that the resisting an executive officer charge alone carries up to three years in prison, along with a $10,000 fine and possible probation. That means Lil Nas X could be facing anywhere from several years to nearly a decade if convicted on all counts. In addition, fines could total more than $25,000.
At this point, his arraignment is expected to take place today. Bail was scheduled to be discussed, but because of the severity of the charges, the process has been delayed.
The legal battle comes at a difficult time for Lil Nas X. The artist recently revealed he had been recovering from Bell’s Palsy while preparing the release of his upcoming project DREAMBOY.
