Jacksonville rapper Ksoo guilty of murder, life sentence expected

Ksoo guilty of murder was announced earlier this month after a jury found him responsible for the 2020 death of fellow Jacksonville rapper Lil Buck. The verdict follows a tense trial that drew attention to the ongoing conflicts in the local drill rap scene.

Alongside Ksoo, co-defendant ATK Scotty was also found guilty of first-degree murder. He received additional charges for burglary with assault or battery. Prosecutors claim the two, together with alleged getaway driver Dominique “Butta” Barner, ambushed Lil Buck at a shopping center in Arlington. Ksoo is accused of firing the fatal shots, while the conflict reportedly began over a diss track aimed at his half-brother.

State Attorney Melissa Nelson spoke on the outcome, saying, “Five years ago, Hakeem Robinson and Leroy Whitaker stalked a man and gunned him down in broad daylight because of disputes and drill rap. Today, a jury held them accountable for their brazen crimes. This was an incredible effort by law enforcement and our team that takes two killers off our streets. Thank you to the jury for their time and dedication.”

Even behind bars, Ksoo is staying connected to the music scene. Lil Duval shared that he brought Ksoo virtually to a YFN Lucci concert on August 24. Duval posted on X, “That boy Ksoo was at Lucci concert last night. I tried to talk to him but I couldn’t hear [sh*t] he was saying,” adding a photo of Ksoo smiling as he chatted on the phone from prison.

Ksoo faces a mandatory life sentence for his conviction, as does ATK Scotty. Defense attorney Chris Carson explained, “Given that it’s not a death penalty case, the penalty is essentially mandatory life in prison.” Ksoo’s sentencing hearing is set for September 8 of this year.
