Skydiving World Devastated by Loss of Jade Damarell in Fatal Incident.

The woman who lost her life in a skydiving tragedy in County Durham has been identified as Jade Damarell, aged 32.

Jade was not new to the skies. With over 400 jumps to her name, she had earned the respect of many in the skydiving world. But on the morning of Sunday, April 27, 2025, something went wrong. She fell during a jump at Wrefords Farm in Shotton and didn’t make it.

The company she was jumping with, Sky-High Skydiving, described what happened as heartbreaking. In a public message, they said there were signs it may have been a personal decision to end her life, though nothing official has been confirmed yet. The coroner is still looking into the full details.

Sky-High Skydiving shared, “We’re heartbroken to confirm that we lost one of our own in a tragic event. Jade was a cherished member of our community. Our hearts go out to her family and everyone close to her. If anyone is struggling, please talk to someone. There’s help out there.”

The owners of Wrefords Farm also put out a message. “This past Sunday, April 27th, a woman passed away after a parachuting accident. We ask everyone to say a prayer for her soul and for strength to her family. Please respect our space and privacy during this time. God bless her.”

Friends say the small community in Shotton is reeling from the loss. One of them told Mail Online, “She was the heart of our skydiving crew. We’re crushed. Just days before she died, she did 11 jumps. This year alone she’d already done around 80. She lived for this.”

Police also confirmed the incident. A statement from Durham Constabulary read, “A woman in her 30s has died following a skydiving incident near Peterlee. Emergency teams responded to the scene in Shotton Colliery around 10.30 on Sunday morning. Sadly, she was declared dead on site. Her death isn’t being treated as suspicious, and we are preparing a report for the coroner.”
