The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), in partnership with Ethiopian Airlines, has unveiled an exciting new direct flight route linking Prempeh I International Airport in Kumasi with London’s Gatwick Airport. This groundbreaking service is set to launch on December 3, 2024, opening a new chapter in international travel for the Ashanti Region.
For the first time in history, travelers from Kumasi will have direct access to London, bypassing the need for connecting flights through Accra. The inaugural journey from Gatwick is scheduled to depart at 2:10 am and touch down in Kumasi by 9:05 am, offering passengers a seamless and efficient travel experience.
This development is more than just a convenient travel option—it’s a catalyst for economic growth. By linking Kumasi directly to London, the new route is expected to foster stronger trade partnerships, attract tourism, and create fresh investment opportunities. It represents a significant step in strengthening ties between Ghana and the UK while cementing Kumasi’s status as an emerging hub for international aviation.
GACL’s partnership with Ethiopian Airlines underscores its dedication to expanding Ghana’s aviation landscape. By bringing international connectivity closer to the heart of the Ashanti Region, this initiative enhances accessibility and boosts the region’s global appeal.
