Fourteen-year-old Finnish skateboarder Heili Sirviö took home her first gold medal at the X Games in Salt Lake City on Friday. She dominated the women’s park event with a final score of 86.00.
Sirviö started strong, scoring 74.33 on her initial run. She raised the bar considerably in her second attempt, which secured her the lead. Although she did not finish her third run, the earlier score was enough to keep her ahead of tough competition.
Cocona Hiraki from Japan earned second place with 83.66 points. American Bryce Wettstein completed the podium, taking bronze with 82.66 points.
This victory adds to Sirviö’s growing list of achievements. She previously won a bronze medal in the same event at the X Games in Japan last September.
The young Finnish athlete first captured international attention last year when she became the youngest Olympian in Finland’s history. At just 13, she finished fifth in the women’s park final at the Paris Summer Games.
