Finnair flight cancellations will affect more than 8,200 passengers on Thursday 19 June. The airline is canceling 128 flights due to a four-hour walkout by ground handling and catering staff. This strike is part of an ongoing labor dispute between the Finnish Aviation Union (IAU) and employer group Palta, which has now lasted six months.
This disruption follows a similar strike on Tuesday, which caused over 140 flight cancellations. Finnair is directly contacting affected customers to offer alternative flight arrangements and rebooking options. Passengers should expect delays in customer service responses because of the volume of inquiries.
Recent talks at the National Conciliator’s Office ended without agreement. Negotiations between the IAU and Palta are set to resume on Monday, but so far there has been little progress. The aviation union has already issued a new strike warning, with a broader work stoppage planned for 2 July. This next strike is expected to affect several companies and disrupt Finland’s air traffic further.
What Finnair Says to Customers
Finnair stated: “Customers whose flight was cancelled due to industrial action will be informed about the cancellation as soon as it has been done. After this, the customer will receive a message and be offered a new route.” No timeline has been given for the end of the dispute, and contingency plans remain unclear.
Passengers flying with Finnair should check their flight status regularly and prepare for possible delays or changes.
