Held from January 16 to 19, 2025, at the Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre, the event marked its 37th edition. The Caravan Fair, running alongside from January 17 to 19, added a unique touch with its focus on road travel. This year’s Matka Travel Fair proved to be a key platform for travelers and industry professionals alike, fostering connections and inspiring plans for the year ahead.

A Showcase of Global Travel Opportunities

This year, the fair hosted 850 companies representing around 70 countries, attracting over 56,000 visitors, including industry professionals. Professionals Day saw a noticeable increase in international participation, providing a vibrant space for networking and collaboration.

“Attendance at the Matka Travel Fair rose by 11%, reflecting the growing enthusiasm for travel planning and the value of meeting industry experts in person,” said Noora Haatainen, Business Manager of Matka Travel Fair. “The event remains a vital hub for travelers, industry stakeholders, and operators alike. It showcases the best destinations and services, drawing in visitors who are ready to invest in unforgettable journeys.”

Highlights and New Launches

The event served as a launchpad for new ventures, including the debut of Neckermann Nordic. Director Berk Ercan emphasized the importance of face-to-face interactions for building brand trust, particularly as a new operator. Finnish attendees showed keen interest in destinations like Turkey, Greece, Egypt, and the Canary Islands.

Meanwhile, Kuopio made a strong comeback after several years, presenting its year-round appeal, from skiing at Tahko to celebrating its 250th anniversary. “We’ve received a warm reception,” shared Salima Peippo of Kuopio Tourism. “Our stand has been buzzing, and the theme of the city’s milestone year has resonated with visitors.”

Caravan Fair: Road Travel in the Spotlight

The 2025 Helsinki Caravan Fair featured nearly 200 caravans and trailers, drawing both seasoned travelers and those new to the idea of caravan travel.

“This event reaches a broad audience, including first-timers curious about the caravan lifestyle,” noted Mika Jokinen, Executive Director of the Association of Touring Vehicle Importers. “The partnership with Matka Travel Fair has been crucial, and workshops on starting caravan travel were packed. Exhibitors were thrilled with the turnout, and many reported strong sales.”

Matka Workshop Day: A Hub for Business

On January 15, 2025, the Matka Workshop Day brought together 685 travel professionals for one of the Nordic region’s most important travel trade events. Nearly 250 companies from 45 countries presented their offerings to over 250 international buyers, facilitating around 4,000 pre-scheduled meetings.

As a whole, the Matka Travel Fair 2025 successfully blended inspiration, innovation, and collaboration, setting the tone for another dynamic year in travel.
