The Espresso Siena train is making a return this autumn, offering travelers a unique chance to journey through the heart of Tuscany in vintage style. If you want to enjoy this nostalgic Italian train ride, booking early is essential as the service runs only for a limited time.

Italy has recently launched a series of restored vintage trains, and the Espresso Siena is the newest addition. It connects Rome with the art-rich city of Siena, winding through Tuscany’s scenic landscapes.
Passengers will travel in meticulously restored Gran Confort first-class carriages from the 1970s, giving a stylish nod to the golden age of Italian rail travel. Plush blue velvet seats, panoramic windows, wood-panelled corridors, and cheerful retro bar cars make the journey both comfortable and visually striking.
The Espresso Siena train is operated by Fondazione FS and FS Treni Turistici Italiani. It promises “a real journey into the soul of Tuscany” and a chance to slow down and enjoy the scenery.
The train will run only for three weekends this autumn: 27 September, 4 October, and 1 November, departing from Roma Termini at 7.42pm and arriving in Siena at 1.20pm. Stops along the route include Tarquinia, Capalbio, Orbetello, Grosseto, Montepescali, Monte Antico, Buonconvento, and Monteroni d’Arbia. Return journeys are on 28 September, 5 October, and 2 November, leaving Siena at 3.05pm and arriving in Rome at 9.03pm, allowing passengers an overnight stay in the Tuscan city.
Explore Siena on Arrival
