Nigerian forward Emmanuel Dennis has sealed a loan move to Blackburn Rovers from Nottingham Forest, set to spend the rest of the season in the EFL Championship.
The 27-year-old, who previously had stints with Istanbul Basaksehir and Watford, hasn’t featured for Forest since the closing match of the 2022-23 season. Now, he’s looking for a fresh start in a league that has historically been kind to Nigerian talent.
With this move, Dennis becomes the fourth Super Eagles player to wear the Rovers shirt, following in the footsteps of Yakubu Aiyegbeni, Dickson Etuhu, and Hope Akpan. He’ll be hoping to replicate Aiyegbeni’s memorable spell, where the former Nigerian international bagged 18 goals and two assists in 33 appearances for the club.
Speaking to RoversTV, Dennis shared his excitement about joining the club and his ambitions for the remainder of the season.
“Rovers are in a strong position, and the team plays good football. I just want to bring something extra and help us enjoy this journey together,” he said.
Dennis, known for his flair and confidence on the ball, made it clear that his contribution won’t just be about putting the ball in the back of the net.
“Scoring goals is important, but football is also about entertainment. I love the tricks, the nutmegs, getting the fans excited. That’s why they come to the stadium—to enjoy the game, feel the moments, and celebrate wins,” he added.
With a point to prove and a desire to reignite his career, Dennis will be aiming to make a real impact in the Championship as Rovers push for a strong finish to the season.
