Elon Musk Asylum Request Filed in Russia Without His Involvement, Sources Say

Elon Musk asylum request has been officially filed with the Russian Foreign Ministry, though the billionaire had no part in the submission, according to reports emerging from multiple Russian news outlets. The petition, filed by the Novye Lyudi party, has triggered political and media speculation across the country.

On Thursday, both News.ru and Gazeta reported that the request was submitted to the Foreign Ministry. Confirmation came from Vladislav Davankov, Deputy Speaker of the Russian State Duma, who verified that the documents are now under formal review.

Although the reasons for the request have not been specified, Davankov commented publicly, noting that Musk has made his share of errors but deserves understanding. “If that is not possible in the West, we are always ready to receive him,” he said. “His vision and technological breakthroughs speak for themselves.”

It remains unclear whether the move was purely symbolic or if it has deeper motives. No documentation indicates that Musk approved or even knew of the filing. Russian authorities have so far refrained from making any aggressive political statements related to the case.

A decision regarding the petition is expected to arrive within a month, although no timeline has been guaranteed. Officials appear to be treating the submission as legitimate but low-priority, likely due to Musk’s complete lack of involvement.

Earlier in the month, Elon Musk had a lighthearted online interaction with Dmitry Medvedev, Vice Chair of Russia’s Security Council. Medvedev had mocked the ongoing dispute between Musk and Donald Trump and offered to negotiate a fictional “peace agreement” in exchange for Starlink equity. Musk simply responded with a laughing emoji.

This digital moment, although casual, sparked renewed attention on Musk from within Russian political spheres. Whether the asylum filing is connected to that exchange remains speculative.

Adding further weight to the story, Musk’s father Errol Musk was present at a future-technology forum in Russia earlier this June. He gave multiple interviews to Russian news channels, during which he expressed admiration for the country and support for Donald Trump.

“Trump will win. He is the elected president. So I think Elon made a mistake,” Errol stated, referring to the dispute between his son and Trump.

His remarks raised eyebrows and added a layer of complexity to the asylum story. Some analysts believe Errol’s presence may have helped fuel the decision to submit the request on Elon’s behalf.

As of now, Elon Musk has issued no statement regarding the reported asylum petition. His silence has only deepened public curiosity.

There is no indication that he plans to engage with the matter, nor is there any evidence that the Russian government intends to pursue it further beyond standard protocol.

While some dismiss the move as political theatre, others suggest it may reveal deeper undercurrents in global tech diplomacy.
