Anthony Joshua Mother’s Day tribute became a moment of reflection and connection as the boxing champion joined the families of his late friends in Nigeria. Joshua paid homage to Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele, who died in a car crash on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway on December 29, 2025.

Joshua, 36, was traveling with the two friends when the accident occurred. He survived with minor injuries and was hospitalized before being released on New Year’s Day. The driver of the vehicle, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, reckless and negligent driving, driving without due care, and operating a vehicle without a valid license.

Since the tragedy, Joshua has remained largely out of the public eye. The recent Mother’s Day gathering, however, brought him into a moment of shared grief and remembrance with the families of Sina and Latif. Video from the event shows Joshua dancing, smiling, and sharing light moments with loved ones while speaking candidly about the loss.

“I thank God that we can come under one roof and celebrate our mothers, celebrate our brothers, celebrate those that are not with us, celebrate those that are with us, knowing that our fate will one day come,” Joshua said. “We just stay strong until that day. We pray for our transition and just to be great in the afterlife. Why I talk about that is because my heart is for my bros right now.”

Joshua emphasized the importance of the mothers who shaped the lives of his fallen friends. “This is for my mum and our family but also Sina and Latz, Sina’s mum, Latz’s mum, it’s all interconnected,” he said. “I’m not making too much sense, I’m just speaking from my heart. So thank you mums for giving me Latz and Sina for so many years, looking over me. I appreciate it a lot and thank you very much.”

The event revealed a side of Joshua often unseen by the public. It showed his commitment to relationships built over years of trust and shared experience. His presence offered solace to grieving families and highlighted the human cost behind headlines.

Beyond the dance and smiles, Joshua’s words and gestures reflected a deeper understanding of loss and responsibility. His tribute underlined how grief and gratitude can coexist, and how personal connections can guide public figures in moments of tragedy. For the families of Sina and Latif, Joshua’s appearance was not just a celebrity visit. It was a reaffirmation of loyalty, a gesture that extended their shared history into the present and honored the memories of two lives cut short.
