Protect Yourself from the Alko Scam Website Circulating Online

Alko has alerted the public about a fraudulent website that copies its brand identity to trick customers with false discount offers. The Alko scam website uses the retailer’s official name and logo to appear real, but none of the advertised discounts reflect Alko’s actual pricing or sales practices. Links to the fake site are already circulating on social media platforms.

Alko scam website alert confirmed by officials

Chief Financial Officer Anton Westermarck said the company discovered the scam earlier this week after a customer contacted them with concerns.

“The discounts on the products are so significant that they are not credible,” Westermarck told Yle in an interview.

Alko reported the fraudulent site and its advertisements to the authorities, requesting immediate removal. At this point, there are no confirmed cases of customers falling victim to the scam.

Westermarck urged consumers to be cautious when shopping online and to always verify the web address before making purchases. He stressed that Alko’s official online store has a fixed URL without added characters or variations. Any difference in spelling should be treated as suspicious.

The company also reminded customers that it is not offering any online discount campaigns at the moment and does not sell products through outside retailers.

How to protect yourself from Alko scam websites

  • Check the URL carefully before entering payment details
  • Avoid clicking suspicious discount links shared on social media
  • Remember that Alko does not use third-party sellers
  • Contact Alko directly if an offer looks questionable

As Westermarck emphasized, if a deal seems too good to be true, it almost always is.
