Hey there,
I’m Monte D. Collins, but most people know me as Monte OZ. I’m an African International journalist, award-winning blogger and media personality, now proudly based in Finland. My passion has always been about storytelling and discovering the world. Nine years ago, I made one of the biggest decisions of my life. I walked away from a comfortable career as a TV presenter to chase a dream of full-time travel. It felt like a big risk at the time, but looking back, it turned out to be the start of the most meaningful journey of my life.
Since then, I’ve traveled through almost every country across Africa. I’ve explored the heart of the continent, connected with its people, and shared stories that deserve to be seen and heard. Today, I find myself deeply connected to the Nordics, especially Finland, which I now call home. There’s something calming and magical about this country. The peaceful nature, the clean air, the honest way of life. It gives me space to reflect, create and plan my next adventures.

My travels have never been just about ticking off destinations. I believe in truly living every moment. Whether it’s dancing with locals in Kenya, sipping traditional coffee in Ethiopia, or meeting Santa Claus in Rovaniemi, I’ve always been about connection. Over the years, I’ve partnered with some of the biggest names in tourism. South African Tourism, Kenya Tourism Board, Uganda Tourism Board and Zimbabwe Tourism Authority among other travel entities across the globe have all trusted me to help tell their stories. I’ve also worked with tourism brands across Europe to bring people closer to the beauty of travel.
What makes my journey special isn’t just the places I’ve been to, but the experiences I’ve lived through. I’ve covered global fashion weeks, film festivals and music concerts. I’ve interviewed powerful voices and shared quiet moments with strangers who left a big mark on me.
Here are a few memorable highlights:
- Rafting down the Nile in Uganda
- Hiking & Watching the sunrise from Table Mountain in Cape Town
- Meeting Santa Claus in his hometown in Rovaniemi, Finland
- Jumping off a bungee platform over the Nile
- Dancing with the Maasai in Kenya
- Tracking rhinos in Zimbabwe
- Ziplining over the roaring Victoria Falls
- Tasting the bold flavors of Ethiopian coffee at its source
These weren’t just once-in-a-lifetime moments. They were reminders of why I chose this path and why I keep going.
Of course, it’s not always easy. There have been flight delays, long travel days, and moments of doubt. But every challenge has made the journey more real. It’s all part of building a life I’m proud of. A life full of purpose and freedom.
This blog is more than just a space for travel updates. It’s where I share stories from the road, culture from every corner, global news that matters, fashion that inspires and lifestyle content that connects us all. It’s for the dreamers, the travelers, the curious minds and anyone who wants to see the world a little differently.
Besides blogging, I work as a Travel UGC Creator, a Travel and Tourism PR Consultant and an Executive Travel Advisor. I love what I do and I pour everything into it. My goal is always to tell the most human, honest and powerful stories possible.
I haven’t been everywhere yet, but I’m working on it. And I’m bringing you with me.
Thanks for being here. Thanks for reading. Let’s keep exploring this wild, beautiful world together. From Finland to wherever the next road leads.
