Samuel Chukwueze AC Milan time has become a talking point again, but this time from the player himself. The Nigerian international has openly admitted that his spell at AC Milan did not give him enough space to truly express his qualities on the pitch.

Chukwueze, 26, is currently on a season-long loan at Fulham, where he has quickly rediscovered his confidence and rhythm. His move to England came during the summer transfer window, ending a challenging period in Italy that never quite clicked the way many expected.
Chukwueze arrived at AC Milan from Spanish side Villarreal with a strong reputation as a direct, high-tempo winger. However, his three-year stay at the San Siro was marked by limited opportunities and inconsistent game time.
Despite flashes of his ability, the Super Eagles star struggled to secure a regular role in Milan’s tactical setup. The result was a quiet spell that contrasted sharply with his earlier performances in La Liga.
The Premier League move has already changed the narrative. Since joining Fulham, Chukwueze has made a strong impression, scoring two goals and registering four assists in just nine league appearances.
The freedom and pace of English football appear to suit his natural style far more. His performances have drawn praise from fans and analysts alike, with many noting how comfortable he looks in one-on-one situations and quick transitions.
Reflecting on his experience in Italy, Chukwueze was honest about the frustration he felt.
“I don’t think I was given the time or the opportunities I needed,” he said in comments quoted by Milanista.
“But that’s football. I just have to keep working.”
He also acknowledged that different leagues demand different strengths, hinting that the Premier League aligns better with his game.
“English football probably suits my style better than Italian tactics,” Chukwueze added.
Despite the disappointment, Chukwueze was clear that his bond with AC Milan remains intact. The winger is still under contract with the Italian giants and insists his loan move does not signal a permanent break.
“I miss Milan,” he admitted.
“It’s my second home. My family are still there, so of course I miss the city. They are doing well and I wish them all the best. I’m still a Milan player, after all, because I’m only on loan.”
Looking ahead, Chukwueze remains open-minded about his future. Whether it leads back to Serie A, a return to La Liga, or a permanent stay in the Premier League will depend on form, opportunity, and timing.
For now, his focus is clear. He wants to keep playing, keep improving, and let his football do the talking.
