Atalanta Sack Coach Ivan Juric After Poor Serie A Start

Atalanta sack coach Ivan Juric after another poor run of results that left the Italian side in the bottom half of the Serie A table. The club confirmed the dismissal of Croatian manager Ivan Juric and his entire technical team on Monday, November 10, following back-to-back defeats that ended any early-season optimism.

Atalanta’s decision came just a day after a humiliating 3-0 home loss to Sassuolo. The defeat pushed them down to 13th place, a sharp fall from their solid start to the campaign. Though the team had gone on a nine-match unbeaten streak earlier in the season, most of those games ended in draws, leaving fans increasingly frustrated. The recent losses to Udinese and Sassuolo proved too costly for Juric to survive.

In a brief statement released by the club, Atalanta confirmed that Juric and his full coaching staff were relieved of their duties with immediate effect.

The dismissal marks another turbulent chapter in Ivan Juric’s coaching career. Last season, he lasted only two months at Roma before a short-lived switch to Premier League side Southampton. His time in England ended abruptly in April when he resigned after the Saints became the earliest-relegated team in league history.

Juric’s appointment at Atalanta came with high expectations, as he succeeded Gian Piero Gasperini, the long-serving manager who had guided the club through nine successful years and moved on to Roma. However, Juric struggled to match Gasperini’s intensity and results, leaving Atalanta inconsistent both in performance and morale.

Despite domestic struggles, Atalanta’s European campaign has shown a glimmer of promise. The club currently sits 16th in the Champions League standings with seven points from four matches. The strong European form has not been enough to balance out their Serie A woes, but it hints at the potential still within the squad.

As the club searches for a new head coach, Atalanta fans hope for a return to the aggressive and fluid football that once defined their success under Gasperini. For Juric, the challenge will now be to rebuild his coaching career after another brief and disappointing tenure in top-level football.
