2025 Emmy Awards Winners: Full List of Highlights and Surprises

The 2025 Emmy Awards winners were announced on Sunday night in Los Angeles, and the ceremony delivered a mix of predictable victories and unexpected upsets. The show, hosted by Nate Bargatze and broadcast live from the Peacock Theater, celebrated television’s biggest names while also making history in several categories.

2025 Emmy Awards Winners

Adolescence was the breakout of the night, taking home six awards including Best Limited or Anthology Series. Owen Cooper became the youngest male actor ever to win in any Emmy acting category after securing Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie. Stephen Graham, who starred, produced, and co-wrote the series, earned Best Actor while Erin Doherty won Best Supporting Actress. Philip Barantini’s directing and Graham’s shared writing award with Jack Thorne rounded out the sweep.

Seth Rogen and The Studio were another dominant force. The comedy earned four wins including Best Comedy Series, Best Actor, Best Directing, and Best Writing. Rogen shared the directing honor with Evan Goldberg, and their writing win was alongside Peter Huyck, Alex Gregory, and Frida Perez.

Drama took a surprising turn with The Pitt, which triumphed as Best Drama Series. Noah Wyle’s performance earned him Best Actor, while Katherine LaNasa stunned the audience by winning Best Supporting Actress over a strong group of nominees from The White Lotus.

Severance made history when Tramell Tillman became the first Black man to win Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, while his co-star Britt Lower took home Best Actress. Adam Randall’s directing win for Slow Horses and Dan Gilroy’s writing victory for Andor added further weight to the drama categories.

Comedy had its own standout moments. Jean Smart was recognized again for Hacks, winning Best Actress in a Comedy, while Hannah Einbinder collected Best Supporting Actress. Jeff Hiller pulled off one of the night’s most surprising wins in comedy by beating Harrison Ford to claim Best Supporting Actor for Somebody Somewhere.

Variety and unscripted programming also made headlines. The Late Show With Stephen Colbert secured Best Talk Series just months after its cancellation. Colbert and his team received a standing ovation from the crowd, underscoring the show’s cultural impact. Last Week Tonight With John Oliver won both Best Scripted Variety Series and Best Writing for a Variety Series, defeating Saturday Night Live. However, SNL still claimed Best Variety Special (Live) with its anniversary event. The Traitors was named Best Reality Competition Program.

Cristin Milioti’s performance in The Penguin earned her Best Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie. Jean Smart’s recognition further reinforced Hacks’ place as a powerhouse in comedy. Across categories, returning veterans and new names made their mark on the 2025 Emmy Awards winners list.

Beyond the awards, the night featured tributes, reunions, and charity efforts. Phylicia Rashad led the In Memoriam segment honoring her Cosby Show co-star Malcolm-Jamal Warner, who died in July. Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen accepted the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award. A Law & Order cast reunion and special appearances by Stephen Colbert, Sydney Sweeney, Jeff Probst, Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, Jenna Ortega, and Catherine Zeta-Jones gave the ceremony extra star power. The event also raised $350,000 for the Boys and Girls Club.

Before the televised broadcast, most technical and creative categories were celebrated at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards held on September 6 and 7.
