BigXthaPlug Arrested in Dallas Following Album Release

BigXthaPlug arrested in Dallas last week for alleged gun and drug possession, just one day after releasing his new album I Hope You’re Happy. The rapper was supposed to celebrate the album drop with fans, but instead he found himself in police custody.

BigXthaPlug Arrested in Dallas

On Friday, August 22, authorities reportedly arrested BigXthaPlug at his album release party. He faces charges of possession of a firearm and marijuana. He was released on bond the following day and walked out of the county jail surrounded by reporters. The rapper gave only brief comments, mainly promoting his new album.

His attorney, Valerie Baston, spoke to CBS Texas about the case. “We are going to wait to see the affidavit,” Baston said. “But we will work vigorously for our client because it just is what it is. These are two misdemeanors, and people are trying to make it a felony.”

This recent arrest is not the first legal issue for BigXthaPlug. Earlier this year, he was taken into custody in Arlington, Texas, during a traffic stop for driving with expired tags. Officers reportedly smelled marijuana as they approached his vehicle, leading to a search that allegedly uncovered a leafy green substance in the console.

In his early 20s, BigXthaPlug also violated probation, which resulted in jail time. Part of his sentence included solitary confinement, a period that he described as mentally difficult, especially being away from his young son, Amar.

During his time in confinement, BigXthaPlug turned to writing as a way to cope. These writings eventually became the foundation for his rap career. In a recent interview with Billboard, he reflected on his journey. “I wasn’t planning to be a rapper,” he said. His experiences have clearly shaped both his music and his perspective on life.

Fans are closely following the case, hoping for the best possible resolution so BigXthaPlug can return to focusing on his music. Meanwhile, he continues to promote I Hope You’re Happy, which has already been receiving attention for its country-inspired sound and honest storytelling.
