In a recent appearance on the New Rory & Mal Podcast, Chance shared his thoughts on where things stand today. “I was gonna say honesty is the best policy. I have not talked to him in a long time. He is one of the most influential people in my music. He was at my wedding, our kids have hung out together,” he said.

Even with the distance, Chance made it clear that his respect for Kanye has not changed. “I will always love Kanye, but just being real, I have not talked to him in a while. I have been focused on my own work. He has been busy too. I try not to take opportunities to diss people or add more to the story,” he explained.

When asked about reconnecting, Chance admitted that it is not something he is actively planning. “The way I live my life is by thinking about what I need to do that day, or what I have lined up for the next few weeks or months.”

He went further by explaining how he views friendships. “My view of relationships is simple. Have I loved this person? Have they ever betrayed me on purpose? I have friends I have not talked to in years, but that does not mean the friendship is broken. I do not sit around waiting for some moment where I fix them or call them out. That is not how I see it.”

Chance also pointed to the age gap as part of the dynamic. “I am younger than a lot of them. Friendships can be different when you are not really peers. The first album I ever really wanted to have was The College Dropout. So for me, there is a different respect, a different understanding of how his music influenced my life. Most rappers have that one album from their city that shaped them. For me, that was Kanye. Then to work with him later, it was a big deal.”
