Radisson RED Oslo City Centre, a Verified Net Zero Hotel, has officially opened its doors in the heart of the Norwegian capital. The property stands as one of the first two hotels worldwide to achieve Verified Net Zero status, positioning it as a leader in sustainable hospitality and climate-conscious travel.

With 118 reimagined guest rooms, vibrant social spaces, and flexible meeting facilities, the hotel blends a playful twist on Scandinavian minimalism with serious environmental responsibility. Its Verified Net Zero achievement, confirmed by TÜV Rheinland, reflects Radisson Hotel Group’s wider commitment to reaching Net Zero by 2050. Remarkably, the property is already aligned with the 2040 requirements of the Net Zero Methodology for Hotels.
Previously operating as Park Inn by Radisson, the building has undergone a full transformation to create a stylish lifestyle hotel. Its central location gives guests immediate access to iconic Oslo landmarks, from the Oslo Opera House to the Munch Museum.
The interiors follow Radisson RED’s bold design language, with rich dark wood, black and red tones, and technology-driven amenities. Guests can enjoy a restaurant, bar, and lounge designed for connection and community, as well as a fully renovated gym. The hotel also offers six modern meeting rooms that can host up to 100 participants, all equipped with high-speed Wi-Fi and advanced audiovisual systems.
Beyond the property, visitors can explore Aker Brygge promenade, the Royal Palace Gardens, and world-class shopping streets, making the hotel an ideal base for both business and leisure travelers.
The building, originally constructed in 1939, has been re-engineered to meet strict Verified Net Zero requirements. A hotel with this certification eliminates emissions from energy use (scope 1 and 2) and minimizes emissions from operations and supply chains (scope 3).
At Radisson RED Oslo City Centre, guests will notice three visible commitments:
100% renewable energy for electricity, heating, and cooling.
Low-carbon menus designed with Swedish partner Klimato to cut recipe footprints by up to 40%.
A hotel-wide minimal waste strategy that includes recycling, food waste tracking, and reduced single-use plastics.

This opening follows the launch of Radisson’s first Verified Net Zero hotel in Manchester earlier this year, marking a new chapter for the brand.
Inge Huijbrechts, Chief Sustainability & Security Officer at Radisson Hotel Group, explains:
“Pioneering the first two Verified Net Zero hotels is a milestone for us. With 80 percent of the buildings that must reach Net Zero by 2050 already built, transformation of existing properties is critical. We are proving that it is possible, and that it benefits both guests and the planet.”
Guests at the Oslo hotel will see sustainability embedded in daily operations:
- Food waste management tools and surplus food distribution through Too Good To Go.
- Bulk bathroom amenities with recycling programs.
- Glass bottles instead of plastic in rooms and meeting spaces.
- Recycling bins available throughout the hotel.
- A Stay E-concierge app to reduce paper use.
- Dripdrop umbrellas, where every borrowed umbrella results in a tree planted.
To achieve Verified Net Zero, the hotel sources 100% renewable electricity and district heating from innovative solutions like waste-to-energy plants and data center heat recovery. Remaining emissions are offset through carbon removal certificates in partnership with Agreena, which supports regenerative farming practices across Europe.

Tom Flanagan Karttunen, COO of Leased Hotels for Radisson Hotel Group, added:
“Radisson has always been a pioneer. This project proves that energy-efficient transformations can be applied to existing buildings, not just new developments. Guests can now stay in a hotel that meets their expectations for comfort and design while aligning with their values of sustainability.”
Radisson RED Oslo City Centre is not only a place to stay, but also a statement. It shows that hospitality can deliver style, comfort, and responsibility in one package, while giving travelers the assurance that their stay leaves a net-zero carbon footprint.
