I’m Monte D. Collins—though most people know me as Monte OZ—an internationally celebrated African journalist, award-winning blogger, and media personality. I’ve always had a deep love for storytelling and exploring, and nine years ago, I made the biggest leap of my life. I left my career as a TV presenter to chase a dream of full-time travel. Looking back now, it wasn’t just a leap of faith—it was the beginning of the most rewarding chapter of my life.
Since then, I’ve roamed across nearly every country in Africa, uncovering the raw beauty of my home continent while sharing its rich culture and untold stories. These days, my journey often takes me to the Nordic countries, with Finland feeling like a second home. There’s something magical about its pristine landscapes and peaceful vibe that keeps me coming back.
But my life isn’t just about visiting destinations—it’s about immersing myself fully in the moments, the people, and the energy of every place. Over the years, I’ve collaborated with top Tourism Boards and Authorities across Africa, including South African Tourism, Kenya Tourism Board, Uganda Tourism Board, and Zimbabwe Tourism Authority. I’ve also worked with organizations in Europe, using my platform to promote the wonders of travel and bring the world a little closer together.
What makes my story unique isn’t just the places I’ve been but the journey itself. As a digital nomad, I’ve had the incredible chance to cover global events like fashion weeks, music concerts, and film festivals, rubbing shoulders with inspiring personalities and public figures from around the world. Imagine interviewing trailblazers one day and ziplining over Victoria Falls the next—it’s a life I never imagined but wouldn’t trade for anything.

These moments aren’t just “bucket list items” to me—they’re pieces of a life lived fully, with every experience leaving its mark on my soul.
But let’s be real—choosing this path hasn’t always been smooth sailing. There have been long flights, missed connections, and moments of doubt. Still, every challenge has been worth it because it’s brought me closer to my dream of living a life I’m proud of.
