Eminem stalker sentenced. That’s the line that defines the turn of events in a disturbing case that’s finally come to a close.

Eminem Stalker Sentenced After Second Home Invasion

Matthew Hughes, now 32, has been given a heavy prison term after being found guilty of breaking into Eminem’s home once again. The Michigan man is now facing between 15 and 30 years in prison for first-degree home invasion, along with an added 3 to 7 years and 6 months for aggravated stalking. These sentences will not run together. They will stack back to back.

In addition to the prison time, Hughes has been ordered to stay away from Eminem permanently. This includes a ban from being within 500 feet of the rapper’s home or workplace.

This wasn’t the first time Hughes forced his way into Eminem’s private life. In fact, the first break-in occurred in 2020, and it was nothing short of terrifying. Eminem told officers he woke up in the middle of the night to find Hughes standing right behind him inside his home. When asked why he was there, Hughes answered plainly that he was there to kill him.

That first case ended with a plea deal. Hughes was sentenced in 2021 to five years of probation. But by November of that same year, he had already been arrested again, this time for a separate simple assault charge. That violation triggered jail time for breaching the terms of his probation.

After serving time, Hughes was released on parole in May. But within a few months, he broke into Eminem’s house once more, leading to this final conviction.

Even before the first break-in at Eminem’s primary residence, Hughes had already shown signs of obsession. In June 2019, he was found sleeping in a guest house of a property once owned by the rapper. That trespassing episode was dismissed at the time, but it was the first major sign that something deeper was going on.

During the recent trial, Eminem testified directly. His presence in court, along with the history of events, gave the jury little room for doubt.

In other unexpected news tied to Eminem, it was recently revealed that the rapper once wanted Mariah Carey to play his mother in the film 8 Mile. This information came from Damizza, a producer who had worked with Carey and also had industry ties in hip hop radio.

Speaking on the TFU Podcast, Damizza shared that Eminem was very serious about casting Carey. During their meeting, Eminem reportedly told her directly, “I want you to play my mother.” Carey’s reaction, according to Damizza, showed a wave of insecurity. She eventually turned down the idea.

It’s long been rumored that Eminem and Carey had a brief relationship back in 2001. Carey has always denied it, but the speculation has continued through the years.
