Kai Cenat Reacts Live to Eminem Beating Kendrick Lamar at AMAs.
Eminem’s win at the American Music Awards caught a lot of people off guard, especially Kai Cenat. The rap icon took home Favorite Hip Hop Artist and Favorite Hip Hop Album, beating Kendrick Lamar who many thought would win.
Cenat was at the ceremony and even co-presented an award. When Eminem’s name was announced, he was clearly surprised. Streaming live, he said straight up: “I’m a fan of Slim Shady but let’s be honest.” He went on to say, “Eminem is dope but come on, Kendrick should’ve taken it.”
Kendrick did snag one award that night for Favorite Hip Hop Song with “Not Like Us.” He had six nominations total, including Artist of the Year, but Billie Eilish took that title. She also won Album of the Year and Song of the Year, edging out Lamar.
The real shock was in the Hip Hop categories where Eminem walked away with the big prizes for artist and album. Lamar and SZA were up for Collaboration of the Year, but Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga won with “Die With A Smile.” That same track also beat “Not Like Us” for Favorite Music Video.

Despite missing out on the AMA’s top trophies, Kendrick has been on a roll. His recent show with SZA on the Grand National Tour in Seattle pulled in $14.8 million, making him the first rapper to surpass $14 million in ticket sales for one concert. Nearly 61,000 fans showed up, marking the tour’s biggest crowd so far. He topped his own record from a Dallas show that made $11.8 million.
Kendrick’s dominance isn’t just live shows. His track “Not Like Us” set a new milestone by spending a whole year on the Billboard Hot 100, a first for any rap song. Plus, his collaboration with SZA, “Luther,” stayed at number one on the Hot 100 for 13 weeks straight.
