ONGA, the seasoning brand owned by Promasidor Nigeria, marked World Food Day 2026 with a three-day consumer activation celebrating Nigeria’s diverse food culture and the personal traditions that shape how people prepare their favourite meals.

The campaign, titled “Cook Your Way With ONGA“, brought shoppers together across three locations in Lagos from October 16 to 18, using food sampling, cooking competitions and interactive activities to showcase dishes from different parts of Nigeria.

Built around the brand’s “Taste of Home” platform, the campaign focused on the idea that there is no single way to prepare a meal. Recipes often reflect family traditions, regional influences and individual preferences, making the experience of cooking personal to every household.

Through the activation, ONGA sought to celebrate these differences while introducing consumers to its improved Chicken and Beef seasoning cubes, which the company positions as products designed to add richness and flavour to everyday meals.

The three-day event began on Friday, October 16, at Jendol Ikorodu, Akasolori, before moving to Ikeja City Mall on Saturday. The final activation took place on Sunday, October 18, at Jendol Ibeju-Lekki.

At the events, shoppers had opportunities to explore dishes associated with Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones through food sampling and interactive culinary experiences. Featured dishes included Native Rice from the South-South, Suya and Masa from the North-West, Abacha from the South-East, Dan Wake from the North-East, Ofada Rice with Ayamase from the South-West, and Jollof Rice from the North-Central region.

One of the activities, the “Cook Your Way With ONGA” plate-building game, challenged participants to identify and match ingredients with traditional Nigerian dishes within a set time. The activity tested their knowledge of local food while introducing participants to the ingredients behind familiar meals.

Consumers also shared stories about the personal touches that make their cooking distinctive. A cooking competition provided another opportunity for shoppers to demonstrate their culinary abilities, while several interactive activities offered participants the chance to win prizes.

Speaking about the campaign, Omotayo Olaobaju, Category Manager, Culinary at Promasidor Nigeria, described the activation as an opportunity to engage directly with consumers both online and in person.

“World Food Day Cook Your Way with ONGA campaign was a fantastic platform to engage directly with our consumers online and offline. ONGA believes that cooking is personal, and there is no standard recipe for great-tasting meals. Our role as a culinary partner is to inspire cooking confidence in every home, ensuring that whichever recipe you choose, the improved ONGA Beef or Chicken cube delivers guaranteed richness and taste,” Olaobaju said.

The campaign also extends beyond the physical events through a digital challenge that allows consumers to participate from their homes. Participants can share videos or content showing how they prepare their favourite meals for a chance to win prizes, including a kitchen makeover, an iPhone 18 Pro, a refrigerator and other rewards.

Entries can be submitted through the campaign website, www.ongatasteofhome.com. Consumers can also follow ONGA Nigeria on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and TikTok for updates and further information about the competition.

With “Cook Your Way With ONGA“, Promasidor Nigeria is using World Food Day as an opportunity to highlight the regional dishes, family traditions and individual cooking styles that contribute to the country’s food culture. The campaign places particular emphasis on the idea that familiar meals can carry different meanings and flavours depending on who prepares them and the traditions behind each recipe.
