Stephanie Adair, 29, pleaded guilty to the offence after admitting to a relationship with Jahki Crosdale, 28. Crosdale was serving a six-year sentence for his role in the fatal attack on Charlie Burns, a 19-year-old trainee plumber, in 2015. The attack was linked to a £150 cannabis debt.

The relationship reportedly took place between September 1, 2023, and November 2, 2024. It came to light after Crosdale included Adair’s address in court documents.

According to the charge, Adair maintained an inappropriate personal relationship with Crosdale while working as a prison nurse and communicated with him using an unauthorised mobile phone. The case raises questions about professional boundaries and the rules governing contact between prison staff and inmates.

Crosdale also admitted transmitting images or sounds from inside HMP Wandsworth and HMP Lowdham Grange without authorisation between February and October 2024. The unauthorised recordings formed part of a separate aspect of the case involving material captured inside the prisons.

Adair appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court, where Judge Georgina Kent directed her to cooperate with the preparation of a pre-sentence report. She is due to be sentenced on February 9, 2027.

The Nursing and Midwifery Council investigated the matter and temporarily restricted Adair from working in prisons. However, she remains listed as a practice nurse at Trevelyan House GP surgery in Tooting, south-west London.

The case concerns Adair’s conduct while working in a custodial setting, where prison staff are expected to maintain professional boundaries with inmates. Her sentencing will determine the penalty imposed for the offence to which she has pleaded guilty.
