Akalaka Nwa Nkanu, a Nigerian man from a polygamous family, has told his prospective bride that he intends to marry five wives, saying he would rather practise polygamy than be unfaithful to his partner.

In a Facebook post published on Sunday, October 11, Nwa Nkanu openly outlined his plans, making it clear that he wants a woman who understands and accepts his intention to have multiple wives.
He explained that his views on marriage were influenced by his family background. According to him, his father married four wives, and his late mother supported the arrangement. He also claimed that his mother accompanied his father to two of his marriages.
Nwa Nkanu said he prefers to bring other women into his household as wives rather than pursue relationships outside his marriage in secret. He presented polygamy as an arrangement in which everyone would understand their position in the family.
“If you’re crushing on me and you think we can build a beautiful home together, please let me warn you in advance! Have it at the back of your mind that I plan to marry 5 wives, so don’t come and start feeling somehow when I begin meeting other women,” he wrote.

He added: “Instead of cheating outside, I’d rather bring the babe home and make her my wife.”
The Nigerian man stressed that he was disclosing his intentions early to avoid misunderstandings with any woman considering a relationship with him. He urged women who do not support polygamy to reconsider pursuing a relationship with him rather than expecting him to change his position later.
“I no dey hide my intentions oh, so if you can’t handle the plan, please don’t board the ship,” he wrote.
His comments centre on his stated preference for a polygamous household, drawing on the example set by his parents. While he has expressed a clear intention to marry five women, the post does not establish whether he is currently married or has already begun making arrangements to pursue that plan.
