A man has died after entering a tiger enclosure at Yorkshire Wildlife Park in northern England, according to South Yorkshire Police. Emergency services attended the wildlife attraction near Doncaster on Saturday, October 10, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene despite efforts by medical personnel.
Police said they received reports of a man entering the enclosure at approximately 1:35 p.m. on Saturday. Emergency responders were dispatched to the park following the incident.
“Emergency services attended and sadly, despite the best efforts of medical personnel, the man was pronounced dead at the scene,” South Yorkshire Police said in a statement.
Authorities confirmed that the tiger was not injured and remained inside the enclosure. Police also said there was no continuing risk to members of the public. Specialist officers are supporting the man’s family.
Yorkshire Wildlife Park was evacuated following the incident as staff activated emergency response procedures. In a statement, the park confirmed that a serious incident had occurred at one of its tiger enclosures and said its team was working alongside the relevant authorities.
