A 33-year-old man wanted in Bosnia and Herzegovina over allegations of attempted murder and conspiracy to commit a felony was arrested at Larnaca Airport on Friday after arriving in Cyprus on an international flight.
The man was identified by police during passport checks in the arrivals area shortly after landing. His details were found to match an arrest warrant issued by authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, according to Cyprus police.
The case dates back to 2019, when the alleged attempted murder and conspiracy offences were reportedly committed in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Authorities in the country had issued an arrest warrant for the man, while an Interpol Red Notice had also been issued, placing his details on the international wanted persons database.
Following his identification at the airport, police obtained a temporary court arrest warrant and took the man into custody.
He is expected to appear before a court in Cyprus as proceedings begin over his possible extradition to Bosnia and Herzegovina. The court process will determine the next steps in relation to the extradition request.
