Stedman Bailey has been formally charged with exposure of sexual organs following an alleged public sex incident at a Florida shopping mall in July.
The former NFL wide receiver, 35, faces a first-degree misdemeanor charge in Broward County, according to charging documents obtained by TMZ Sports. The case relates to an alleged incident at Round1, an entertainment venue featuring bowling, arcade games and a bar inside Pembroke Lakes Mall in Pembroke Pines.
Prosecutors allege that Bailey pulled down his clothing and either engaged in or was actively engaging in sexual contact in a public area of the venue. Bailey was arrested shortly after midnight on July 27 alongside a woman identified as Karina Manderson.
Police said the pair were allegedly caught engaging in sexual activity at the establishment. According to the arrest account, Bailey acknowledged that his pants had been down but denied that he and Manderson had engaged in sex.
Bailey has indicated that he plans to contest the charge. A first-degree misdemeanor conviction in Florida can carry a maximum sentence of one year in county jail and a fine of up to $1,000.
The legal case adds another chapter to a career that ended abruptly after Bailey was shot in the head in 2015. Before the shooting, he spent three seasons in the NFL with the St. Louis Rams.
Bailey’s football career was cut short by the shooting, which occurred during a practice session involving his former team. The latest case is unrelated to his time in the NFL and remains pending.
The charge is an allegation, and Bailey has not been convicted of a crime in connection with the incident.
