Alamara Djabi stabbing incident in Herning has left the FC Midtjylland midfielder in stable condition after emergency surgery in Denmark.
The 19-year-old footballer was attacked around 3:30am on Sunday, April 19. He suffered serious injuries and was rushed to hospital, where doctors performed two operations to save his life. He was placed in an induced coma immediately after the incident but has since regained consciousness and is now recovering under close medical supervision.
The situation developed quickly in the early hours, with emergency services responding to what authorities have described as a violent assault in the city.
FC Midtjylland has confirmed that Djabi is now stable and awake after the procedures. The club has stayed in close contact with both medical staff and authorities while supporting the player and his family.
The club has also made it clear that it will not share detailed updates while the investigation is active. Officials have asked for privacy and restraint, stressing that the focus should remain on Djabi’s recovery rather than speculation around the case.
Djabi had not been part of the first-team squad in recent fixtures, although he remained within the club setup.
Danish police have launched an active investigation into the stabbing and are searching for a suspect described as a 20-year-old man with fair skin and short dark hair.
Authorities are still gathering witness statements and reviewing evidence from the scene. No further details have been released, as investigators continue to build a clearer picture of what led to the attack.
The case remains open and is being treated as a serious violent crime.
Djabi joined FC Midtjylland in the summer after developing through Portuguese club CD Mafra, where he played in the country’s second division. His move to Denmark was seen as a step forward in his development as a young midfielder.
This season, he was part of FC Midtjylland’s Europa League campaign environment, included in matchday squads for high-profile fixtures against clubs such as Celtic, Roma, Genk, and Dinamo Zagreb during their run to the last 16 stage. While he did not feature in the main competition matches, his presence in squads showed steady progression within the club system.
At this stage, Djabi’s condition is stable, but recovery will take time after such a severe injury and emergency surgeries. The club, medical staff, and authorities are all focused on ensuring he receives the care and privacy needed during this period.
The incident has also paused any immediate football considerations for the young midfielder, as attention shifts entirely to his health and rehabilitation.
